James Siegler, MD, specializes in vascular neurology, with a focus in managing atherosclerotic disease (a condition in which plaque develops within arteries in the head and neck) and strokes of unknown mechanism, otherwise known as cryptogenic strokes. In many of these patients, the risk of recurrent stroke is high, and aggressive interventions that can include the combination of blood thinners and endovascular therapies may be necessary.

Along with his dedication to his clinical practice, Dr. Siegler has more than 200 peer-reviewed publications, including original research manuscripts, reviews and textbook chapters. His work has been featured in Neurology, the premier journal of the American Academy of Neurology, Stroke, Stroke: Vascular and Interventional Neurology, and Journal of the American Heart Association – all of which are part of the American Heart Association journal family. His research investigates atherosclerotic disease, perfusion imaging and the eligibility of neurointervention for acute intracranial occlusion in order to improve care for his patients.

Additionally, Dr. Siegler is well-known for previously producing an independent neuromedical podcast titled BrainWaves, as well as the official podcasts for the Neurocritical Care Society, American Academy of Neurology and the journal Stroke: Vascular and Interventional Neurology. Among his other responsibilities, Dr. Siegler currently serves as both a Deputy Editor for the Disputes and Debates section of Neurology and the E-learning Subcommittee for the American Academy of Neurology, as well as manages the Digital Strategy team for Stroke: Vascular and Interventional Neurology.
