We specialize in caring for patients with metabolic liver disorders, including fatty liver disease (steatotic liver disease).

At UChicago Medicine, our hepatologists are internationally known for their expertise and helped write national guidelines on treating fatty/steatotic liver disease. Our team also includes an endocrinologist, who will check your risk for hormone-related disorders like diabetes that could harm your liver.

Our registered dietitian, Sarah Vilt will meet with you to talk about how changes to your diet could help your liver. She will work with you one on one to assess your dietary needs and come up with nutrition recommendations through evidence of medical nutrition therapy. We will also coordinate your care with our medical weight management and bariatric surgery team when needed.
