The hematology laboratory performs testing to analyzer blood and blood forming tissues aiding in the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of hematology disorders. Testing specialties include routine hematology, urinalysis, special hematology, and cytochemistry staining. In the hematology lab, we primarily perform complete blood count (CBC) and white blood count (WBC) differential analysis. We use the latest technology to identify abnormalities present in anemias, leukemias, and other hematologic diseases. Urinalysis is a simple but valuable screening tool for the detection of underlying medical conditions such as diabetes and kidney disease. We use automated procedures, including an automated dipstick reader and a flow cytometric-based analyzer, supported by manual examination procedures.
