Commercial insurance is a type of private health insurance coverage that pays for your medical and surgical expenses. Unlike government-sponsored insurance, commercial insurance is often offered through your employer’s benefit packages. If your insurance network doesn’t include the University of Chicago Medicine, but has out-of-network benefits, your services can be processed against these benefits. That means you may have a higher out-of-pocket responsibility than if you receive services from an in-network provider.
