Alyse Bedell, PhD, specializes in psychogastroenterology and has specialized training and knowledge in how stress, anxiety and depression can affect digestive health. Dr. Bedell works with patients struggling with a range of gastrointestinal conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, and more, and using her expertise to help her patients cope with their condition and improve their gastrointestinal symptoms. Dr. Bedell is able to assist patients in better understanding and managing their symptoms through a holistic approach that addresses both physical and emotional components.
She uses gastrointestinal-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques, which emphasizes the importance of optimizing thoughts and behaviors in a positive way to improve how her patients feel physically and emotionally. Dr. Bedell’s approach to care goes beyond mental and emotional support by fully understanding what medical factors exists that contribute to her patients' condition so that she is incorporating what her patient’s need for long-term success. She works closely with other specialists to develop a comprehensive treatment plan to help support each patient's personal needs.
In addition to psychogastroenterology, Dr. Bedell also works with patients with sexual difficulties. She offers therapy services to individuals and couples seeking support in the area of sexual health.
